Off-Bardway - Rags

Camelot Theatre "Rags" June 23 - July 25
Nicknamed "Fiddler on the Stoop", Rags pays tribute to the Russian, Italian and Irish immigrants of 1910 who traveled through Ellis Island and into the sweatshops of New York City's garment industry. Their story is told through the eyes of two families: Rebecca and son David, survivors of the Russian pogroms, desperately searching for Nathan, the husband and father who came to America before them; and Avram, trying to keep daughter Bella safe in the new world he can't begin to understand. Featuring music that embraces ragtime, klezmer and musical theatre, Rags celebrates the courage of our ancestors - the children of the wind.
