An Evening of Bluegrass and Banjo

Steve Martin has proven to be one of the most diversified performers in the entertainment industry today. His successful foray into the music world includes the release of his first bluegrass album The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo, which reached #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album chart in 2009, and won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in February. Martin also won a Grammy in 2001 for his collaboration with bluegrass banjo legend Earl Scruggs on Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

Britt Festival - Slightly Stoopid

Friday, June 18 • 6:30 p.m.
Reggae/rock/psychedelia band Slightly Stoopid has built a large and loyal fan base, and has soared to one of the most successful bands of this decade. Childhood friends Miles Doughty and Kyle MacDonald formed the group in 1995, mixing reggae and punk sounds into one smooth stylistic cocktail. The buzz surrounding Slightly Stoopid continues to increase with each successive release, supported by the band’s incessant touring. Founder Kyle McDonald says, “Without (the fans) we’d just be playing at a bar…when we go out and people are having that good of a time, the energy goes back and forth.”

Britt Festival - Gypsy Soul

Gypsy Soul’s music has Celtic and Americana roots, but delves into rock, blues, jazz and world music, drawing from the eclectic background and interests of vocalist Cilette Swann and multi-instrumentalist Roman Morykit. Gypsy Soul has won critical acclaim, won international independent music awards, and been featured on television. Their latest album is Grace and Tranquility, a collaboration with lyricist and author Eric Alan.
